Research is carried out at an international level. DTU Informatics will place itself on the national/international map regarding research areas relating to the department curricula. Results will be published in leading journals.
Within certain focus areas the research activities at DTU Informatics are leading on a worldwide scale.
DTU Informatics plays an important role in the research programs offered nationally and internationally. In other words, a big portion (approximately half) of the departments research activities are financed externally.
The driving force of the research is the researchers' curiosity and desire to cross and break up borders. The researchers must have time for scientific concentration and immersion. The research projects range from basic research to immediately applicable research. The greater portion of the research projects are aimed at specific applications. Many projects provide products (e.g. computer programs) which are commercially applicable, but no research project can be characterised as pure product development.
DTU Informatics must at all times be able to attract competent PhD students, Post Docs and staff. To be able to do that, an active and inspiring research environment is all important.
