Fotonik Business Challenge is a 1-semester master course developed by collaborative effort of DTU Fotonik, DTU Management and CBS, Væksthus Hovedstadsregion and NxtGen.
The first challenge will start in September 2012. It will be a part of the new study line: ‘Master in Photonics Engineering’.
The idea for the course is to form interdisciplinary teams of students from DTU, CBS and KU and let them work on developing the business potential of a patented research project with market potential. The course will be compulsory for all ‘Master in Photonics Engineering’ students, and it wil be available to other department master students.
The final projects will be submitted to the Venture Cup Start-up competition. The course is promoted and supported by DTU Stardust.
Timeline: Fall 2012, Thursdays, 1B, 5 ECTS.
Course objectives:

Te expose more students to the concepts of entrepreneurship and the formation of high tech spin-offs.

Give participants ‘business like experiences’ with real research project cases with high market potential.

Make students work in interdisciplinary teams (different technical, design and business skills) – learn how to communicate among each other and show the value and need for complementary skills in a start-up team.

Finding people who are qualified and willing to commercialize existing research projects or get valuable input for the commercialization process.
