The Bachelor of Environmental Technology is a 3-year bachelor program intended as a preparation for a subsequent 2-year Masters program taken either at DTU or at another natural sciences based University, thus following the Bologna model for higher education, common for the European Union. Currently the Bachelor programmes at DTU are taught in Danish.

The Bachelor program consists of four types of courses each holding 45 ECTS points: Natural science courses – e.g. math, physics, chemistry, Projects and general courses - e.g. a 10 ECTS point project on the 4th semester, a MATLAB programming course , courses that may be chosen freely, and finally the Technological main subject courses specific for and defining each Bachelor programme.

The Bachelor of Environmental Technology provides quantitative insight into basic physical, chemical, biological and geological processes and gives the necessary background for recognizing and solving environmental problems, as well as the capability of contributing to a sustainable use of natural ressources and raw materials, based on an updated technological knowledge. The area of environment and resources spans wide.

The Department of Environmental Engineering in charge of the Bachelor of Environmental Technology has chosen to emphasize three areas relevant for engineers through recommended study plans for: Environment and Sustainability, Environmental Technology of Urban Areas, and Resources. The plans are meant as guidelines and may be mixed and adjusted to exploit the many options present in the DTU bachelor programme.
