DTU Environment is focusing on research and education within technique, environment and resources in order to contribute to a sustainable development locally, nationally and globally. The department’s research areas are within water supply, wastewater, solid waste, hydrology, geology, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry and microbiology. DTU Environment is actively and systematic working with environmental management, in order to minimize the environmental impact of the departments activities. DTU Environment wishes to create an environmentally aware workplace and educational institution.
DTU Environment aims to:
- Minimize the energy and resource consumption and waste production
- Prepare green accounts adjusted to the needs
- Increase the environmental awareness of the staff and thereby reduce the energy and resource consumption, plus prevent pollution
- Spread the environmental awareness to students through teaching
- Contribute to a more sustainable development through the research at the department
- Collaborate with Campus Service, other departments at DTU and public institutions in order to disseminate the results with environmental management
- Comply with relevant laws and guidelines from the authorities plus rules at DTU within the field of environment and contribute to the fulfillment of the national environmental goals
