Industrial as well as university customers often have special needs, which require an expansion of the existing process machinery at DTU Danchip. As an element of our partnership model, we therefore offer our customers to invest in their own equipment and install it in our cleanroom. This equipment can be installed for proprietary use, for instance for pilot production or prototyping. Alternatively it can be made available for other customers in the cleanroom in line with other DTU Danchip equipment. The fees collected from other users will contribute to significantly reduce cost of operation for the investing partner and at the same time boost process know-how development on these tools.
Example: Collaboration with EPCOS
Currently the company Epcos has leased a section of the cleanroom for prototyping requirements. They have established a development team with offices at Scion DTU that will conduct ongoing development activities on miniaturized MEMS microphones on their equipment within DTU Danchip’s cleanroom facilities. Part of this equipment is available for all of Danchips customers and serviced and maintained by Danchip personnel. This agreement has enabled us to expand our portfolio of packaging equipment significantly.
