The Department of Civil Engineering, DTU Byg, is organised in a matrix, where everyone is employed in one of the line organization units. Projects and study programmes are completed in a transverse project organisation.
Management
The day to day management of the Department of Civil Engineering is conducted by a leader team and a board of Section Heads. The Research and Innnovative Committee is responsible for strategic planning and coordination of research, innovation and collaboration with authorities. The Committee comprises all the appointed members and the Head of Department. The Education Committee and board of Education Managers are responsible for strategic planning, coordination and evaluation of education.

Line Organisation
The Department of Civil Engineering is organised into seven Sections and Centre together with two Divisions arranged according to professional identity. Every Section and Centre is led by a Head of Section, who is concerned with the professional competences and qualifications of the employees and responsible for the technical resources. The Sections and Centre are responsible for the range and the participation in courses and for the development of research within their own specialities. Administration and IT (ADM) and the Division of Technical Staff (TS) administer the common resources of the Department.

Co-operation of the employees
Questions of co-operation are handled in the Committee of Co-operation and the work of safety is coordinated and carried out by the Committee of Safety.
