DTU – TUM 1:1 MSc programs

 

In 2006 DTU and Technical University Munich (TUM) entered the European University Alliance in Science and Technology – a contract between universities of excellence. Together the universities have developed a novel concept for English taught two-years MSc programs called 1:1 MSc programs because the students spend one year at each university. In 2010 three 1:1 MSc program are offered within:

Duration and workload

Each MSc program:

  • is a two-year master program
  • consists of four semesters
  • represents a workload equivalent to 120 ECTS credit points
  • the student spends one year at each university

Degree obtained and diploma

The 1:1 MSc program is a single degree program where the graduate obtains a diploma from either TUM or DTU depending on where the student is enrolled.

The graduate is entitled Master of Science in Engineering in “the specific field”.

 

Master thesis

The student completes a master thesis of at least 30 ECTS credit points. The thesis work is supervised by two researchers one from each university. The thesis work is presented at the university where the thesis work was done in the presence of both supervisors and an external examiner.

 

Individual study plan

Based on a recommended study track, each student admitted to the 1:1 MSc program work out an individual study plan together with the responsible supervisors at the partner universities. The final study plan has to be approved by the respective DTU-TUM 1:1 Program Committee.

 

Who can apply?

  • selected students from TUM and DTU

Admission criteria

  • a relevant above-average Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree obtained at TUM or DTU
  • a relevant above-average Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree obtained at a Danish, German or an internationally recognized foreign university
  • a relevant excellent Bachelor in Engineering degree obtained at a German Fachhochschule

Enrolment

The students are enrolled either at TUM or DTU.

 

Tuition fee

Tuition fees have to be paid according to the existing regulations at the university of enrolment.
