How to read the course description

Each course description is based on the same template. The following explains the key points.

Language

If the language is indicated as “Danish”, the course is taught in Danish. If it is indicated as “English”, the course can be followed by English-speaking students either because the course is taught in English or because there is a special course of study for international students.

Credit points

The workload is calculated in ECTS credit points (European standard), where 60 credit points corresponds to one man-year.

Type

  • “Foundation courses”: the department’s core courses, which as a rule are offered for at least three years.
  • “Initiative courses”: this course type can be offered and suspended at short notice. Such courses can be study groups that reflect the department’s research activities or they can be offered based on student interest.

Blocking of credit points

Other courses which resemble in content the course in question to a great degree and which, therefore, do not carry credit points along with that course.

Compulsory requirements

For reasons of safety, students are required to pass courses specified as “compulsory” before enrolling in the course in question. If you are uncertain whether you meet the requirements for following the course, you are welcome to contact the contact person for the course.

Academic requirements

Courses listed under “academic requirements” represent the academic qualifications needed to enrol in the course in question. If you are uncertain whether your academic qualifications meet the requirements for following the course, you are welcome to contact the contact person for the course.

Preferred qualifications

It is preferable that these courses are taken either prior to or along with the course in question. In the list of courses, a slash (/) means or (i.e. only one of the courses), while a full stop (.) means and (i.e. both/all of the courses).

Recommended semester

The specific semester in a course of study when it is recommended that the course in question be taken. This can give you an idea of the academic level of the course.

Number of students

The maximum number of participants in the course due to limited equipment or the like. Guest students may only follow courses with limited admission if there are places available.
