Student business projects

A business project is a joint denomination for any study-related project which is performed wholly or in part in collaboration with a business and DTU. A large part of the study programme in engineering is carried out as project work and in principle all projects can be completed in collaboration with a business – both exam projects, bachelor projects and minor projects (at DTU referred to as special courses).

 

Length and form

The length of a business project may vary from three months to one year depending on what type of project is agreed between the student, the business and the advisor at DTU.

Just as the length may vary, so may the form as the business project can both be completed in-house at the business or at DTU. The starting point is however that the actual assignment is defined in collaboration with a business.

 

Project agreement

It is recommended that an “agreement” is prepared and signed by the student, the DTU advisor and the business, as all three parties must agree on the project outline. The contents of the agreement should describe the most important matters concerning the project: project title/outline, specific tasks, expected working hours, the length of the stay with the business, etc. Any confidentiality requirement on the part of the business should also be included in the agreement.

Businesses with own suitable projects may contact the relevant department or DTU’s study administration at . The study administration will then return with a referral to the head of the teaching committee at the relevant department.
